Quaterio

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Quaterio: the editor, the API, pricing and more.

Can Quaterio import InDesign (.indd) files?

.indd is an Adobe proprietary format with no open spec, so direct import isn't supported. Most teams move to Quaterio by rebuilding their key templates once. Pro and Business plans include document import for PDF, Word (.docx, .doc), Markdown (.md) and HTML source files.

Does Quaterio support CMYK output for print?

Yes. Business and Enterprise plans include print-ready PDF export with CMYK color conversion, outlined fonts, configurable bleed and trim marks at all four corners. The output runs through Ghostscript post-processing in our PDF service.

Can I use custom fonts?

Quaterio ships with 26 Google Fonts covering sans serif, serif, monospace, display and handwriting styles. Pick a font per heading level and body in your brand kit, and every new document and template inherits the choice. If the Google Font you want is not in the picker yet, ask us at hello@quaterio.com and we will add it (any font available on Google Fonts is fair game). Uploading your own proprietary, non Google Fonts font file is on the roadmap.

What's the difference between Pro and Business plans?

Pro ($10/mo) covers individual users with 25 documents, 25 templates, clean PDFs without watermark and the full editor. Business ($30/mo) adds unlimited documents and templates, REST API access, CMS connectors, webhooks and print-ready PDF features (CMYK, outlined fonts, trim marks).

Is there an API rate limit?

Yes. API access is available on Business and Enterprise plans. Rate limits depend on your tier; Business handles typical commercial workloads, Enterprise supports batch generation up to 1000 rows per request. See the docs for current limits.

Can I use Quaterio for client work or commercially?

Yes. All plans permit commercial use including client work. You retain full ownership of all content, templates and exported PDFs.

How does Quaterio handle multi-page documents?

The pagination engine flows your content across configurable page sizes (A4, Letter, Legal, A3, A5 or custom) with automatic page breaks. Headers, footers, page numbers and brand styling apply consistently across all pages.

Does Quaterio support form fields and signatures?

Yes. Form field placeholders (text inputs, checkboxes, dropdowns, signature fields) render as interactive PDF form fields in exported documents. For full e-signature workflows with audit trails, wire up a dedicated platform like Documenso or DocuSign via the API. A native e-signature integration is on the roadmap.

Does the API support webhooks?

Yes. Webhooks are available on Business and Enterprise plans. Subscribe to events like document.created, template.updated and pdf.generated, with HMAC signature verification on every payload.

What languages does Quaterio support?

The editor and dashboard ship in English today, with Swedish in progress. We can add more interface languages on request, just email hello@quaterio.com. Document content can be in any language, including right to left scripts and CJK characters, as long as your selected font supports the glyphs.

Where are PDFs stored and how does data residency work?

PDFs are stored in Supabase Storage on EU servers. We process your data under GDPR, with full data export and deletion available on request.

How do I add my brand fonts and colors?

Brand kit lives in your organization settings under Defaults. Configure font families per heading level and body, text colors per heading level, up to 5 brand colors, header and footer defaults and print settings. New documents inherit these automatically.

Can multiple people edit the same document?

Quaterio is multi user at the organization level: every member can create, edit and export documents. Real time collaborative editing on the same document isn't currently supported.

How do I migrate templates from my current tool?

Pro and Business plans include document import that ingests PDF, Word (.docx, .doc), Markdown (.md) and HTML source files. Business adds advanced parsing for better layout detection on PDF and Word. For .indd or .ai files, rebuilding in the editor is the fastest path.

Does Quaterio keep version history?

Yes. Every save creates a snapshot automatically, so the history matches the user's mental model of meaningful checkpoints rather than transient autosave noise. The full history UI is on the Business plan, with side by side diff of any two versions and one click restore.

Can I restore an earlier version of a document?

Yes. Open the version history panel on a document or template, pick the version you want and restore it in one click. The restore is itself a snapshot, so if you restore the wrong version you can roll forward to where you were. Available on the Business plan.

Does version history work for both templates and documents?

Yes. Both surfaces use the same snapshot, diff and restore infrastructure. That includes settings level changes too (page size, margins, headers, footers, print settings), not just the text in your content blocks, which matters for regulated documents where a margin change between approvals can carry legal weight.

Do you offer a free tier?

Yes. Quaterio has a permanent Free tier with 3 documents, 3 templates, 50 MB PDF storage and watermarked PDFs. No credit card required. Upgrade to Pro or Business when you need more.

Can I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.

Where can I find my invoices?
